I think this must be related to metapost 1.5 which, iirc, doesn't use
precompiled formats any more, but loads macros at runtime. Looks like the change
isn't completely transparent, so that luamplib is not compatible with those
recent versions.

I'll see to fix that, but I can't guarantee any timeline. In the meanwhile; I
encourage you to use older versions of the executables, if you can easily switch
versions.
