Two things. The first is an FYI. With the COVID school year over I am trying to get back to some writing. Karl helped me to compile the latest texinfo, version 6.7.
In conjunction with that, I am asking if other people get encoding errors. From the material at the end. Here is one, but I get perhaps 50 of them.
makeinfo --no-split --html --css-include=latex2e.css -c TOP_NODE_UP_URL=https://tug.org/texinfohtml/ -c PRE_BODY_CLOSE="<hr/><div class='referenceinfo'> <a href='https://latexref.xyz/'> <i>Unofficial LaTeX2e reference manual</i></a></div>" -c WORDS_IN_PAGE=10000 latex2e.texi
utf8 "\xE0" does not map to Unicode at /usr/local/share/texinfo/Texinfo/ParserNonXS.pm line 1796, <FH> line 20583.
Indeed, line 20583 does contain a comment saying "certains chapitres à la". Vincent, I think they refer to a TODO note you've added. I believe texinfo recently changed to UTF-8 as default. Any objection to converting those, or perhaps to adding a superfluous
@documentencoding UTF-8
at the start?
Jim
