One thing called for in the xx comments in the doc top is to merge in anything from the old latex-info that is better than the current doc.  I've started that, doing the Counters.  I expect to have a periodic whack at it in the next week or so.  

Largely, this doc is *much* better, of course, but in places the older wording makes a good point or is clearer.   The result is that there are lots of small changes.  Sorry for the noise.
