Sorry I just saw that and am taking the train in a few hours. I likely
won't have time to dig into it. Please feel free to revert my commit.
On my setup the tests worked.
It's likely this time that the failure of chemformulas is due to my
changes since I'm making \cs_new:Nn more restrictive.
