[l2h] Box around inline images

Hi experts-

After upgrading to RedHat 7.2 I noticed that all of a sudden my
inline png images (the small images for misc math characters etc)
all have half a thick box around them (left and lower boundary).
How can I get rid of such lines in the images?
I am running 2K.1beta (1.47) and dvips 5.86.
