in  l2hconf.pm  (generated from  l2hconf.pin )

sub navigation_panel {
    "<!--Navigation Panel-->"

    # Now add a few buttons with a space between them
    . "$NEXT $UP $PREVIOUS $CONTENTS $INDEX $CUSTOM_BUTTONS"
            ^   ^         ^         ^      ^ 
      remove these spaces.  That should be enough.
