[latex2html] \[ -shortcut causes image-perturbation

Dear members,
latex2html (99.1) seems to have a problem with 

\[ ... \] instead of using \begin{equation*}....

The effect the shortcutist that the first few math-images are the
ALTERNATE-Text of math-images near the end of the document!
