[l2h] Equation image problems

Hi Latex2html users...

I'm
using RedHat7.1 linux and
This is LaTeX2HTML Version 2K.1beta (1.47) for l2h
which is the latest I could find.
My problem is that equations generate a line on the left side and bottom ("L" shaped).  This
happens with png
or gif output.  It is in the gif file itself (see attached).  I haven't figured out how to
make l2h leave the
intermediate *.ps files on disk so I can look at them.  Have you ever seen anything like
this?  Needless to say, it makes latex2html pretty much useless...

I could not find this in the archives
