The source of the error is that   -edge  .
You have managed to get a bad copy of  pstoimg  which contains a 1-character bug.
It should be  -$edge  .
You can make the edit in  pstoimg.pin  and re-install,
or you can edit the installed version of  pstoimg .

If you still get undesirable results after doing this edit,
then please get a fresh copy of LaTeX2HTML from   www.latex2html.org
and install from this.  You may also wish to get  netpbm v9.12
from:  www.sourceforge.org/projects/netpbm/
to fix problems related to insufficient cropping of images.
