[l2h] Pathname length limit

I just spent several hours finding out why a problem converting images    
suddenly cropped up when I moved a file to a different directory.

I don't know what the magic length is, but I did discover that by
shortening some of the pathnames to the directories, that the problem went
away.

Excuse me if this is a second post, the mail server went down and I don't
think this got out.
