[l2h] subfigure.perl?

if anyone's familiar with subfigure.sty, it allows you to do useful
things like:

   *--------------*  *--------------*   
   |  ..   .  .   |  | . ... .. . . |  
   |  .  .   .  . |  | .  .  . . .. |  
   | .. . .  . .  |  | . . . .. ..  |
   *--------------*  *--------------*   

      1.1: First        1.2: Second

anyway, I was wondering if anyone had created a subfigure.perl for use
