[l2h] l2h 99.2beta6 hangs during image conversion?

Dear L2H-ers

Someone here has a largish (19-page) latex doc with maths markup
on most pages.  latex2html hangs at this point:

Writing image file ...

This is TeX, Version 3.14159 (Web2C 7.3.1)
(./images.tex
LaTeX2e <1998/12/01> patch level 1
Babel <v3.6x> and hyphenation patterns for american, french, german,
ngerman, i
talian, nohyphenation, loaded.
        
And latex just consumes more and more cpu time.

This seems to be a null entry - is this OK or is this tripping
something up ?  Maybe a "mistake" in the original latex code ?

Any suggestions gratefully received.  In the meantime I will try
locating the latex code around the problem.
