Link text for images (was Re: [l2h] ALT tags in equations)

Is there also some command that sets the link text for forced
external images?

   \htmlimage{external}

is what I'm thinking of - with just that, it creates a link
with the title "[IMAGE ]". And, I tried lots of different things
to make it use some other text as the link, but have not been
successful yet...
