Dear All

Trying to ensure that commercial mathtime fonts work on a system running
TeXLive 8.......failing miserably so far!!!! I've been using TeXLive 5 with
absolutely no problem but would like to upgrade to the latest version.

Windows XP Pro SP2
WinEdt 5.3
TexLive 8
(all tfm, pfb and vf files are exactly the same as on a system running
TeXLive 5 which runs perfectly)

C:\Program files\TeXLive\texmf-local\fonts\tfm\yandy...........numerous
tfm's
C:\Program files\TeXLive\texmf-local\fonts\type1\yandy.......numerous pfb's
C:\Program files\TeXLive\texmf-local\fonts\vf\yandy.............numerous
vf's

C:\Program
files\TeXLive\texmf-local\fonts\map\yandy\updmap..........yandy.map
which contains the following information
RMTMI RMTMI <RMTMI.pfb
MTEX MTEX <MTEX.pfb
MTSYN MTSYN <MTSYN.pfb
RMTMIB RMTMIB <RMTMIB.pfb
MTEXB MTEXB <MTEXB.pfb
MTSYB MTSYB <MTSYB.pfb

C:\Program files\TeXLive\texmf-var\web2c..............updmap.cfg
which has had the following line added to the end
Map yandy.map

C:\Program files\TeXLive\texmf-var\dvips\config..........config.ps
which has had the following line added
p +yandy.map

Next, I run updmap.exe (several times just to make sure)

Then, I check the following files
C:\Program files\TeXLive\texmf-var\fonts\map\dvips\updmap
psfonts.map
psfonts_t1.map
pstopk.map
psfonts_pk.map
all of which contain the lines
RMTMI RMTMI <RMTMI.pfb
MTEX MTEX <MTEX.pfb
MTSYN MTSYN <MTSYN.pfb
RMTMIB RMTMIB <RMTMIB.pfb
MTEXB MTEXB <MTEXB.pfb
MTSYB MTSYB <MTSYB.pfb

as they should, I assume. However, when I come to LaTeX a file using the
following

\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[mtbold]{mathtime}
\usepackage{bm}

\begin{document}
blah blah blah
$$
\alpha\bm{\sum_\infty}
$$
\end{document}

When I dvips, I obtain messages along the lines of

mktexmf: empty or non-existent rotfile!
mktexpk: don't know how to create bitmap font for mtex.kpathsea: Appending
font creation commands to missfont.log
dvips.exe: font mtex not found, characters will be left blank.

I assume I am still failing to do something in order to solve my problem. I
would be grateful if anyone has any feedback on what I am doing wrong or
missing.

thx in advance
