[fptex] french hyphenation

I'm using fptex (downloaded after ) and [frenchb]{babel}.
I have a problem with french hyphenation :

       Package babel Warning: No hyphenation patterns were loaded for
      (babel) the language `French'

      (babel) I will use the patterns loaded for \language=0 instead.


I tried to download frhyph.tex from ctan, put it in
\texmf\tex\generic\hyphen, added a line in
\texmf-var\rex\generic\config\language.dat
but it didn't resolve the problem.
