With the most recent version of mpost:

MetaPost (Web2c 7.4.5) 0.641
kpathsea version 3.4.5

and using the following metapost file:

I'm generating a metapost graphic test.1 which has dos type file
encoding (rather than unix type coding).

This is creating an error when I try to include the test.1 graphic in
a latex file and then convert the .dvi file to .ps file.
