Hello Manuel,

I don't know about for latex, but pdftex allows inclusion of jpg
instead of eps.   pdftex is a rewrite of latex that accepts the same
format *.tex file but creates a pdf file instead of a dvi file.  It
accepts PDF, jpg, png, and other graphics formats using the
\includegraphics command.
