[fptex] Ghostscript 8.00

Hi all:

I have upgraded Ghostscript from version 7.05 into version 8.00 and now
I cannot see EPS images with windvi. I am not the only one with this
problem. Martti Nikunen, from the department of Mathematics of the
University of Helsinki, wrote to the comp.lang.postscript newsgroup:

 > I noticed today that with GS 8.00 installed i could not see embedded
 > EPSfigures in DVI files with windvi. This was in Windows XP with the
 > latest fpTeX. Downgrade to 7.04 cured the problem.

and Russell Lang, the author of GSView, wrote back:

 > windvi is being obstructed by the security code in ghostscript.
 > One workaround is to use -dNOSAFER.
 > Better would be for windvi to put the filenames on the command
 > line instead of within the PostScript code.

Is there some way of getting around this problem or must we wait for the
next version of windvi?
