[fptex] Problem with metapost --tex=latex

I have loaded  the new binaries of fptex
and my old files metapost that contains

verbatimtex
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{amsmath,amssymb}
\begin{document}
etex

that worked perfectly yesterday
do not compile with the command
mtpost --tex=latex namefile.tex. this evening. :

this new release is unable to make mpx file with
this trivial line :     btex $y=x$ etex



What can I do to come back
with a release of metapost that
can work with my old files,
or what is the new option for the command metapost
to use LaTeX in  metapost.
