about windvi

Hello,

I have configured my system so that when I want to typeset a document I
execute a bat file in which I run "latex.exe my_document" and if no
error I execute "windvi.exe my_document".
To avoid having an other windvi window opened the second time I typeset
my_document I have selected the single-instance option and then the dvi
is reopened. The point is that I would like that the preview would
positioned at the same page it was but the document is reopened at the
first page.

I find three possibilities:
- With the single instance option, if you open windvi with the file
already opened, windvi might just update the file (I do not know how
difficult could be this change), not reopen it.
Moreover, a single-instance-per-document that lets you have one (and no
more) windvi window for each different document could be useful.
- I could detect that windvi is already opened with the same document
and then skip the execution of windvi. The problem is that I do not
know how to do it in my bat file. Perhaps it could be done with some
other more sophisticated script language.
- I can execute windvi "by hand" only the first time.

Cheers,
Juan Ignacio
