windvi 0.65 repackaged

I tried replacing the windvi.exe I've been using (version 6.3)
by the windvi.exe in windvi65.zip and not changing anything else.
Should this have worked?  It didn't: I got  "Invalid page
fault, in module <unknown>" (so I put the old windvi.exe back).
