[Fontinst] ugly asterisk in typewriter fonts

I'm sorry, I do not quite understand how this is supposed
to be used.  You mean, computing vaxis just like I did, and 
then:

 \resetglyph{asterisk}
   \centeredglyph{asterisk}{vaxis}
 \endresetglyph

???

Further suggestions for the next fontinst release:

(1) change latin.mtx so that the asterisk is forced to be 
vertically centered in typewriter fonts 

(2) fix texcomp.mtx so that asteriskcentered gets actually
centered; as I said, the present code does not work
