novice seeks help with Bitstream font

Hi,
	I'm a complete novice at this, but I hope someone can help me out.
I have the Bitstream 500 font CD, which includes both Type 1 and TrueType
fonts.  I wanted to use fontinst to make virtual fonts so that I could use
some of these (in particular, the American Garamond typefaces)  with
LaTeX.  I followed the instructions in the fontinst documentation for
copying and renaming the .afm files, and wrote a short file to do the
installation:

The log file resulting from TeX'ing the above follows.  Can anyone help me
out with where to go from here?
