Hi all,

1. I'm Peter Flynn. I run the academic IT support function in the
Computer Centre at University College Cork. I teach LaTeX, and use it
extensively for my own work as well. I also use it on some of our
servers to generate more respectable PDFs than could be got by other
means. I used it to format my books on SGML, HTML, XML, and LaTeX
(although they were all actually written in XML or SGML -- yes, I go
back that far :-) I also run a consultancy which does work in
publishing, including XML and LaTeX.

2. So I'm not an academic, and I have very little undergraduate teaching
experience, just training courses.

3. I've been using TeX since the early 80s, and switched to LaTeX in the
mid 90s. I've written a few packages and classes, but mostly corporate
ones that don't appear on CTAN.

4. I'd like to find out more about how other people teach LaTeX,
particularly the order in which topics get introduced.

5. My LaTeX book _Formatting Information_ is freely available (and
source, but that's in XML) and it was based on the 2-day course I used
to run, which got condensed into a 1-day course because I couldn't get
people to sign up for two days :-)
