Actually it works out OK in practice, it is just that if you use a
`cache only' search path, then you should not use a basic copy command
to put a new file into the tree but rather always use a script that
updates the cache file.

As at most sites the `system' tree is not updated so often this is not
really a problem. The local directory is normally set to be searched
first in anycase, so files that you are working on their are found.
