OK Karl, you get to suggest a default syntax for \specials that does
not generate me lots of hate mail from users of <name any
non-dvips-driver-here>  

As I mentioned before the package does work but you have to explicitly
mention which driver you want. However as the documentation file does
not force a particular driver you need a config file to latex the
documentation:-)
