Yes, you can. I started to write an afm-to-afm C program which would
add C -2 (to distinguish them from C -1 which are actually present in
the font) and CC for accented letters not present in the font and KRN
for accented letters which didn't have KRN values specified. I never
finished the automatic KRN generation, but the program did generate
reasonable CC. You can have a look at it if you're interested. Can
