I don't know if Adobe's names are ambiguous or not, but I know mine are
in some cases -- if the font has multiple variants and the last variant
letter is also a valid expansion letter, you can't tell what's what.
The solution would be to always require an expansion letter in those
cases.  That would make some names too long.
