<DIV>A bit of experimentation with Garamond Premier Pro in InDesign reveals the following. (I can't try TeX right now at work). </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The ch and ck ligatures are not applied unless discretionary ligatures are turned on AND the language is set to German. So it appears that Adobe did not include ch and ck in the default discretionary ligatures, but only under the localized German features. Try setting the language to German and see what happens. The Th ligature works in English and German with the standard ligature feature, not discretionary, so I'm not sure why that one won't work for you. All these work both with roman and italic.<BR></DIV>
<DIV>Also, Adobe fonts use OpenType, not AAT, features. fontspec can handle both, but it's possible that there is an issue with calling the right feature names. As I recall "rare" is the AAT term while OT calls them "discretionary" ligatures. Maybe changing the name would help (the fontspec docs say that either can be used, and either theoretically should work). I can check some other things tonight if none of this helps.</DIV>
