So you see this if using Computer Modern or other "legacy" TeX fonts in .pfb format, but not for TrueType or natively-installed Type 1 or OpenType fonts. The warnings seem to be spurious; the fonts still look correct in the PDF.

When printing drafts of my book at home, Type 0 or Type 1 is not a big deal, but the people at the printing office have been warning against embedding anything but Type-1 fonts.
