[XeTeX] Strange hyphenation with polyglossia in French

I find myself not using tex-text.map anymore, since terminals and editors can properly display all those nice glyphs directly.

  But the overwhelming majority of users still type in the ASCII quote
sign and this situation has to be taken in account -- at least by Mojca
and me who maintain the hyphenation patterns.  A change that would break
the setup of almost all users is not acceptable.
