I don't know why I still feel it might be a fontspec issue, now I think
we can rule that out in a better way; by using plain (now some one will
wounder what I've against LaTeX). Something like:

\font\test="Garamond Pro Something:script=latn;language=dflt" at 10pt
\test Quest Queen Question?

Should tell whether it is really an engine issue or not.
