[XeTeX] LaTeX Error: File polyglossia.sty not found

I'm on OS 10.4.11, too and with TL09 I get:


$ latex -v
pdfTeX 3.1415926-1.40.10-2.2 (TeX Live 2009)
kpathsea version 5.0.0
( . . . )


$ xelatex -v
XeTeX 3.1415926-2.2-0.9995.2 (TeX Live 2009)
kpathsea version 5.0.0
( . . . )


So, maybe you should get MacTeX 2009. Or just run

$ texhash

and that may work with the older installation. However, you may have 
other incompatibility problems ....
