This can be problematic. There has be a few discussion about it on
this list, and there were also some message about people having
problems because XeTeX choose the "wrong" font when two or more
alternatives where in the search pathes. 

You can always force xetex to use a specific font with the "external
location" syntax \font\myfont = [path/to/the/font].
