[XeTeX] Footnote refs

Hi Everyone!

I've just noticed that the use of \footnote{} has changed: it *used to 
be* that if the main font (via \setmainfont) was using OldStyle and 
Proportional numbers, the footnote refs were *not* in OldStyle and 
Proportional --- which is normal, IMHO.

*Now* however, the numbers used in footnote refs (both in the text and 
the footer) are whatever the \setmainfont uses.

How is this controlled --- I'd like the "old" use rather than this.

I don't think it's a memoir change ... is it XeTeX --- like the change 
to use Contextual alternates by default? Or is it fontspec? or ...?

Sample doc is attached as well as a list of what I've got at present 
which produces this result. See also the attached image for the 
*desired* result.
