Well... I'd rather live with the searching problem than faking small caps. Digital Typography is tricky, we have to worry not only with how the text looks like but also with how functional it is.

I will have a look into that, maybe it's not THAT difficult to create a cmap including just the few A-Z small caps characters that need special handling.
