[XeTeX] xelatex.fmt missing

Well, maybe the packaging is deficient... anyway, did you try

fmtutil --enablefmt xelatex
fmtutil --missing

(or the same with fmtutil-sys as root, see man fmtutil or live.(pdf|html))?

I think it's the main problem too, but no idea for the symbols.
