Mine came with my PostScript 3 laser printer Mac OS 9 and Jaguar (Mac
OS X 10.2). Although I don't know where GillSans.dfont comes from ...
isn't it part of Mac OS X 10.4? If no-one can answer, I'll look into
the BOM files. Some day!

In UNIX they appear as:

-rw-rw-r-- 1 root admin 335136 21 Mär 2005 /Library/Fonts/
GillSans.dfont
-rw-rw-r-- 1 pete admin 0 12 Jan 1998 /Library/Fonts/

-rw-rw-r-- 1 pete admin 0 12 Jan 1998 /Library/Fonts/

/Library/Fonts/PostScript 3/Gill Sans 1 obviously contains PostScript
versions of Gill Sans Bold, Bold Italic, Italic, Light, Light Italic,
and Plain. These fonts are switched off/deactivated. /Library/Fonts/
PostScript 3/Gill Sans 2 (1,2,4) contains Gill Sans Bold Condensed,
Condensed, and Extra Bold. They are active. The other active
variants, Gill Sans Bold, Bold Italic, Italic, Light, Light Italic,
and Regular come from /Library/Fonts/GillSans.dfont: TrueType,
Version 5.0d2. The PostScript fonts come from Adobe, the TrueType
fonts are MT, Monotype. So the unique names are: Monotype - Gill Sans
MT Heavy, MT Heavy Italic, MT Italic, MT Light, MT Light Italic, MT
Regular.

Linotype FontExplorer X tells me that the /Library/Fonts/PostScript 3/
GillSan* files are the PostScript font files. With /Library/Fonts/
PostScript 3/Gill Sans* it can't work – unknown format, probably the
screen font suitcases. Linotype FontExplorer X tells me the same
about the deactivated Gill Sans PostScript fonts.

The Adobe PostScript versions are also installed in TeX and part of
all MAP files.
