Based on your example I could change text after the TIF to become  
cyan. The TIF stayed in black-and-white.

TeX Live 2007, XeTeX two or three weeks old, Mac OS X 10.4.11.


Could be it works better with specials for xdvipdfmx and non-TIF  
format? (texdoc dvipdfm)
