Well, the ``hanging'' package can help w/ this.

(who would like to see hanging punctuation as well, but before that,  
a primitive box which doesn't do line / word-breaking and so would  
allow the ``mutter mutter mutter'' example for Zapfino Extra OpenType  
to typeset correctly)
