You might consider using Computer Modern Unicode fonts:

  http://sourceforge.net/projects/cm-unicode/

This is a set of OTF fonts that includes everything of traditional
TeX fonts, translated into the OTF language of ligatures, small
capitals, old-style numerals, alternative characters, etc. -- and thus
ideal for use in XeTeX/fontspec.
