The former. (You can use \fontname\font to find out what was actually  
used.)

The naming isn't the issue, but xetex's attempt to distinguish old  
("broken") and new (correct) 'size' feature tables wasn't working for  
this font.

I have just fixed this in the TeX Live repository, so the TL2006  
release should handle the optical sizes properly. (This will also be  
updated in the xetex repository and "standalone" packages, once TL is  
finished, but for right now the TL development tree has the most up- 
to-date xetex sources.)
