[XeTeX] XeTeX and MiKTeX

Now that MiKTeX 2.7 appears to have been delayed indefinitely
(http://miktex.org/2.7/), I've begun looking into ways to shoe-horn
W32TeX's port of XeTeX
(http://www.fsci.fuk.kindai.ac.jp/kakuto/win32-ptex/) into my existing
MiKTeX tree—without messing up the installation.

The ConTeXt Garden wiki has some instructions at
<http://preview.tinyurl.com/2ovnz4>, but they're a year old and I
don't know how much scrutiny they've gotten.

Has anyone on the lists had success blending MiKTeX with XeTeX?
