Ah -- I think that's probably my fault, and could happen on any  
system (it's timing-dependent) -- I need to ensure that xdvipdfmx  
completely reads the postamble, even if it's just ignoring it, and  
doesn't quit as soon as it finishes the processing the last actual page.

Assuming I'm right about the cause, I'll check in a fix for this  
later today.
