You mean the version number mismatch?
The version of web2c/kpathsea in the xetex source repository has
recently been updated to 7.5.5/3.5.5, to match the current TeX Live
repository. So you may have seen those version numbers on Ralf's
xetex, if he has downloaded and built it in the past 12 days, but the
current Mac binary package predates that change.
For most purposes, it doesn't really matter.
