Aren't spaces usually ignored for ideographic scripts?
Perhaps it makes sense to declare
   \endlinechar=-1
which means that no space will be added at a line break.

Fair enough, but it's a pity that the font vendors can't sort these  
problems out. There is no fundamental problem with how XeTeX works  
that there should be issues with things like this.
