Thanks for the tip.  If I had known about TECkit, it probably would have
been quicker to use that to create a mapping than it was to debug my
elisp.  On the other hand, my approach adds support for both the Ibycus
and Babel (LGR) Greek encodings for free.

Unfortunately, there never were any industry-standard single-byte
encodings for ancient Greek.

I don't think xunicode supports Greek.
