[XeTeX] could not build in Debian linux!

You have to install the fontconfig development package. For me using
Debian Sarge that is libfontconfig1-dev:

$ dlocate fontconfig.h
libfontconfig1-dev: /usr/include/fontconfig/fontconfig.h
