Allô Bruno!

C'est normal maintenant.

I've checked it in a document which I can LaTeX (pdfeTeX, Version
3.141592-1.30.4-2.2 (Web2C 7.5.5), LaTeX2e <2003/12/01>, Babel <v3.8d>)
as article, report, proc(eeding), book by changing one variable. In a
column with many hyphenated words I put '--' where they were hyphenated
-- and nothing changed! Honestly, I think that's correct and a bargain
in German, if it wasn't working the same way before. The behaviour of
XeTeX with an Unicode endash seems to be incorrect to me. When
hyphenated here it should become a hyphen ...

Could you consider NON-BREAKING HYPHEN at U+2011?
