I can't remember whether I modified texmf.cnf in my setup myself, or
whether this was done by some installation script.

In any case, in the TeX i-Package the two files
tex.ii2/texmf.cnf.gwtex.tl2004 and tex.ii2/texmf.cnf.gwtex.tl2003
contain the wrong (as of XeTeX 0.93) setting:

	% XeTeX
	TEXINPUTS.xelatex =			.;$TEXMF/{xetex,tex}/{xetex,latex,generic,}//
	TEXINPUTS.xetex   =			.;$TEXMF/{xetex,tex}/{xetex,plain,generic,}//

The XeTeX i-Package may set things right, but I don't know enough of
perl (actually, I know nothing of it) to find out whether some
adaptation of texmf.cnf is done by the script
xetex.ii2/xetex.configure.
